I know Tony runs oil accumulaters on his boats, I was thinking about running one on my engine , is this worth the money ? Is it an insurance policy so to speak? I know they are pressurized, but when oil pressure drops oil I would imagine is released, when oil cools and pressure resumes, does oil go back into accumulater, or does it have to be re filled and pressurized?
I dont know if this is a dumb question or not, but any insight would be appreciated. |

jay, for what it's worth yes it's a great short term life jacket , they normally hold 3/4 quarts of extra oil so if for some reason you loose oil it will be pulled in .
i.e. blowing oil past rings or reversed breathers on valve covers pc seal lets go at high rpm's , you get the idea ask tony !

| yes it is an insurance policy for the engine, my accumalotors are 3 quart with electric solonoid. when you turn on the key it primes the engine, if for any reason oil drops or gets lost it will supply the motor on demand, when oil press is restored it will fill back up to your oil press supplied by the pump. you do not have to pressurize it only when you set it up and then your done unless you take it apart for service. |

Mark, Jegs has moroso accumulater for $200.00 for 3qt.
But canton has a marine accusump setup thats stainless and I think that ones around $480.00.
Seems rather inexpensive considering, what could happen with a pressure drop , and all the carnage that goes with it. |
